Product Overview

The SHIVcare Rectangular High-Pressure High-Vacuum (HPHV) Steam Sterilizer is engineered for the demanding requirements of large Central Sterile Supply Departments (CSSD) in tertiary care hospitals, medical colleges, and multi-speciality chains across India.

The rectangular chamber design provides significantly better utilisation of instrument trays and DIN baskets compared to cylindrical designs of equivalent volume — reducing the number of sterilization cycles required per OT session and improving CSSD throughput for busy surgical departments.

The double-door pass-through configuration places the unloading door in the clean zone while the loading door opens in the dirty/decontamination zone — a mandatory design feature for NABH Chapter 4 (CSSD) accreditation and CSSD best practice guidelines.

Like all SHIVcare sterilizers, the rectangular model is constructed from AISI 316L (Low Carbon) Stainless Steel with hydraulically formed zero-joint end rings, operating at 1.2 kg/cm² to 2.2 kg/cm², and controlled via Siemens/Allen-Bradley PLC with 7-inch colour touch HMI and tamper-proof batch recording.

Key Technical Features

Rectangular SS 316L Zero-Joint ChamberHydraulically formed end panels in AISI 316L Low Carbon Stainless Steel. No weld seams on the pressure boundary. Superior tray-loading geometry versus cylindrical chambers.

Double-Door Pass-Through DesignAvailable on all models 300L and above. Entry door in decontamination zone; exit door in sterile/clean zone. Mechanical interlock prevents both doors opening simultaneously — mandatory for NABH CSSD compliance.

Operating Pressure: 1.2 – 2.2 kg/cm²Supports 121°C gravity cycle and 134°C high-vacuum SFPP cycle. Design pressure 3.0 kg/cm² with pressure relief valve factory-set per IS 3829 Part 1.

Multi-Stage Pre-Vacuum (SFPP)Steam-flush pressure-pulse vacuum system achieves residual air below 1 mBar — critical for sterilizing complex instrument trays, wrapped sets, and hollow goods in large-volume rectangular chambers.

PLC Touch-Screen with Batch RecordsSiemens S7 / Allen-Bradley PLC with 7-inch colour HMI. Pre-validated cycle programmes. USB export and printer interface for complete electronic batch records meeting NABH and CDSCO requirements.

Temperature Uniformity ±0.5°CSS steam jacket and chamber geometry engineered for ±0.5°C temperature uniformity during holding phase per IS 3829 Part 2 — validated across the full volume of the rectangular chamber.

IQ / OQ / PQ Validation PackageComplete Installation Qualification, Operational Qualification, and Performance Qualification documentation provided at commissioning — directly accepted for NABH accreditation submission.

Frequently Asked Questions

Rectangular chambers provide better space utilisation for standard DIN instrument trays and basket loads — the rectangular geometry eliminates the wasted curved corners of a cylindrical design. For large CSSD departments with high-volume tray sterilization, a 600L rectangular sterilizer can process significantly more instruments per cycle than a 600L cylindrical equivalent. Rectangular designs are the preferred format for hospital CSSD guidelines and NABH double-door specifications.
NABH Chapter 4 (CSSD) standards require physical separation between the decontamination zone (dirty side) and the sterilization/storage zone (clean side). A double-door pass-through sterilizer is the most practical way to achieve this in a CSSD layout — the loading door opens in the dirty area and the unloading door opens in the clean/sterile area. SHIVcare's double-door option includes a mechanical interlock that prevents both doors opening simultaneously, a mandatory safety and contamination-control requirement.
SHIVcare rectangular HPHV sterilizers are available as standard in 300L, 450L, 600L, 750L, 800L, and 1,000L configurations. Custom volumes and non-standard chamber dimensions are available on request for specific CSSD room layouts or equipment bunker designs.
